Impact Network is a New York-based NGO that delivers innovative e-learning programs in rural Africa. We believe every child deserves a quality education. We transform lives in rural Zambian communities through education and innovation, at a fraction of the cost of other alternative. sBy empowering teachers with tablets, activity ¬based lessons, support and weekly coaching, we make this possible for 6,000 students in rural Zambia. We developed a holistic education model called the eSchool 360, running currently in 44 schools, to sustain high-quality education year after year for less than $5 a month per student.   Our work also extends beyond the lines of traditional education, towards a shared mission of improving the overall lives of rural children in Zambia.  We design and implement a variety of projects that aim to help all of our students, including early childhood education, financial literacy, child protection, girls and women empowerment, environmental sustainability, and life skills and sexuality. With the school as a starting point, we are able to make broad changes across families and communities to improve not only their educational outcomes, but also their overall wellbeing

This is an exciting time in our organization history as we expand into new areas of work with girls and health. Currently, we are part of a large-scale randomized controlled trial evaluation across 30 schools and 3 districts, conducted by American Institutes for Research. The initial results after one year of our program show impressive results in literacy and math – compared to a control group, our schools increased math achievement by 55% and literacy achievement by 103%. At the end of grade 1, our students were 12 months ahead on numeracy and 22 months ahead on literacy.

Impact Network is seeking applicants to serve a three-year term beginning 2022 on the Board of Directors. We are seeking individuals who are enthusiastic for impacting the educational space in rural Zambia. Individuals who are willing and able to dedicate time and energy to upholding our mission are encouraged to apply. We are seeking applicants with previous experience in Africa, education, taking programs to scale, communications, NGO management, public relations, fundraising or strategy.

Board members expected to join a minimum of 75 percent of Board meetings, including retreats, special meetings, committee meetings and special events throughout the year like our Annual Gala. There are opportunities to visit our program and schools in Zambia.

Our Board of Directors helps with the strategic planning of the organization, and helps develop clear goals and priorities as we expand. Board members approve budgets and review regular financial reports and ensure proper internal controls and that no inappropriate liabilities occur. Each Board member is responsible for representing the organization well, being an active participant in our work, serving as an ambassador for Impact Network; assisting with the setting of organizational policies both in the US and Zambia; and ensuring the financial health of the organization through fiscal oversight and support of fundraising efforts. In addition, Board Members serve a critical role in assisting the leadership of the organization in making critical decisions regarding the organization’s future.
