The Special Event Lead Volunteer will work closely with the executive team and serve as the lead coordinator of special events. In doing so, they will assist with managing volunteers that support such events that are designed to advance the organization’s mission. This role requires a focus onorganization, quality of work, follow-through, and attention to detail. Due to the nature of the position, some work will take place on nights and weekends. A majority of events remain virtual.
This volunteer role requires a minimum commitment of six (6) months with the ability to continue engagement
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Coordinate a team of volunteers assisting with the execution of fundraising events, including 1-2 signature events.
• Take a lead position in the event planning process, including assisting with the identification of marketing plan, collaboration with volunteers, recommendations of venues, platforms, etc...
• Collaborate with the Special Event Committee and volunteers to include recruitment, identification of volunteer needs with staff, a schedule, orientation, and instructions to those who sign up to volunteer at events.
Education, Experience, and Skills Requirements:
Minimum of 1 year of experience in/with the non-profit sector
Experience running large events, i.e. 200+ attendees
Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, Excel, Social Media, and Email
Strong time-management, organizational, writing, communication and interpersonal skills, innovative and creative thinking
The ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously;
Attention to detail, initiative, and follow-through
