    10-12 hours per week. Varies per week based on division needs. Any work beyond the individuals capacity as a volunteer would be passed onto the Dog Division Director.

    This position requires some visits to foster homes, our office, and other locations as needed to assess animals needs. However, all administrative work can be done virtually.

    Dog Division Manager (Training, Behavior, and Transfers)

    Dog Division Manager of Training and Behavior

    This role is responsible for leading our division in behavior and training. They work with foster animals with behavioral needs, provide training resources, and solicit training partners.. Foster experience is preferred but not required.

    Estimated time commitment: 10-12 hours per week

    Responsibilities:

    • Training

      • Communicate dog training, boarding, transfers with Staff.

      • Provide resources to fosters and adopters for behavior issues (i.e.- resource guarding, dog introductions, barking, crate training)

      • Regularly and proactively communicate with foster homes to:

        • Keep up to date with the needs, progress, and condition of foster dogs in care who are exhibiting unwanted behaviors

        • Provide continued support to fosters and adopters

      • Maintain current list of training partners and recruit new partners

      • Coach fosters, match dogs with trainers, and facilitate transfers when appropriate.

    • Transfers

      • Serve as the main contact for fosters who request that their foster dog be transferred from their home due to behavior issues.

    • Administrative

      • Work to build partnerships with training providers that align with Pet Haven and provide rescue discounts

      • Keeping sparkie up to date with behavior and training notes. Upload documentation provided by trainers and fosters to animal management database (including communications from fosters regarding unwanted behavior)

      • Create and update resource page for common behavioral issues on Pet Haven website

      • Communicate in a professional manner the mission, vision and values of Pet Haven

    Reports to: Operations Director and Volunteer Manager

    Staff handles all last minute dog transfers and 911 situations that come up. Dog Division Manager of Training, Behavior will help with planned movements and training.

    Qualifications

    • Intermediate computer skills including email, google suite, and social media

    • Experience with dog behavior and common issues

    • Comfortable communicating on phone and in person

    • Great people and decision-making skills

    • Experience as a foster home a plus

    Goals:

    1. Reduce owner surrender/returns by providing training support

    2. Support fosters to become more knowledgeable about training tips

    3. Assist in creating and organizing a resource and training tips library for fosters and adopters

    4. Establish relationships with local trainers to provide assessments for PH dogs
