This project, led by Lisa Anderson (dean emerita, Columbia University) and Saloua Zerhouni (professor, Mohammed V University and president of the Rabat Social Studies Institute), is dedicated to mobilizing an interdisciplinary network of academics, researchers and practitioners to assess the landscape of social science research conducted in the Arab world and develop guidelines for the conduct of responsible, ethical and constructive social inquiry.

The project will be launched through a series of conversations on different thematic issues. We are currently inviting interested individuals to participate in these discussions on the ethical, political and economic challenges to conducting research responsibly. Our first workshops will be held virtually during the winter of 2020-21.

We seek collaborators with experience conducting research in the region, including students, professors, consultants, journalists, policy analysts, librarians, archivists and others, who are concerned about the context in which they work, including the ethical implications of research agendas, methods, funding, institutional contexts and more.

If you would like to learn more, or think you have something to contribute to the project please fill out the call for participation below by November 9th, 2020.
