    Summary

    We are looking for a Classroom Teacher to facilitate an afterschool program for diverse groups of ESL students in grades 2 and 3 at West Franklin Elementary School. The teacher will promote enthusiasm for learning and adhere to LifeSmart Education’s curriculum standards while collecting and reporting accurate records of student performance and maintaining classroom order.

    Teachers must be physically present at the facility on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 2:15 PM to 4:15 PM, beginning September 30, 2024, and continuing throughout the entire 2024-2025 school year. The stipend is $20/hour. While certification in ESL or other areas is not required, previous teaching experience is preferred.

    Duties/Responsibilities

    • Understands and is very familiar with chosen lesson plans which meet established school and national curriculum models
    • Adapts and reassesses lesson plans to meet specific student needs
    • Comply with newly implemented guidelines or rules, and be up to date on relevant information including new developments in education
    • Ensures the gathering of data, i.e., student attendance, tests, and classroom instruction notes
    • Manages the diverse ability levels of students
    • Adapts curriculum to fit student needs while maintaining overall class progress
    • Assesses and records student development, while identifying problem areas and areas which need attention and improvement
    • Provides a safe, positive learning environment for students
    • Communicate with any and all other staff members who engage with students
    • Communicate with parents when needed on behalf of LifeSmart Education
    • Maintains order and discipline among students while promoting safety and compliance with partner schools’ rules and guidelines
    • Attends occasional continuing education seminars
    • Attends and takes part in school meetings on curriculum, organization, and guidelines as warranted
    • Proficient in the use of technology; Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, LMS experience preferred. Able to set up a projector and laptop or willingness and ability to learn.
