As a hospice volunteer you are able to help out in many ways - from administrative to direct patient companionship. Administrative volunteers help with filing, mailings, and follow-up calls to bereaved families. Direct patient volunteers provide much needed companionship to patients through listening/encouraging life review or story telling, going for walks, music therapy or in some cases keeping the patient company while the caregiver has some "me" time.
If you are crafty we can also use your help in making homemade gifts for our hospice patients! If you play an instrument, music is a beautiful way to bring therapy to a patient. If you have a therapy dog, we could use you and your furry loved one!
If you have a caring, loving heart and a passion for helping others we would love to have you as part of our family! Giving someone a little attention, kind words, and some of your time could be the best medicine!
Our office is located in North Charleston. If you live in Berkeley, Charleston, or Dorchester County we would love to pair you with a patient/patients in your area. Please contact me if you are interested in our Volunteer Program! (All direct patient volunteers must be 18 and older).
