HealthCorps Service Activities

AmeriCorps members will spend their service hours reaching out to individuals in the community that are not receiving primary and preventive services and connect them to care through community health centers. Duties include, but are not limited to:

Reaching out to connect patients with primary care, including annual primary care visits, chronic disease management visits, or preventive services like immunizations and cancer screenings. 

Facilitating access to care by aiding with appointment scheduling, transportation assistance, and arranging interpretation.

Connecting patients with supportive community services to address social needs and barriers to care.

Reengaging patients who experienced delayed or disrupted care because of COVID-19 and promoting awareness of COVID-19 precautions and alternative access to care options, such as telehealth and curbside services.

 Qualifications to Serve as a Healthcorps Member

United State citizens, national or lawful permanent residents

At least 18 years of age

High School Diploma or GED

Strong commitment to service

Desire to serve medically underserved populations

 What is the Commitment for Service?

All MPCA AmeriCorps HealthCorps Members must complete their minimum service hours within their designated service period.

Minimum hours are 1200 hours for a ¾ time service opportunity.

Service periods are from 9 to 12 months.
