    YMCA Reads Volunteer Mentor

    Become a mentor and give a child the courage to read the world!

    By volunteering two hours a week, you can teach a child to read. As a YMCA READS mentor, you will work in a small group environment or one- on-one with a kindergarten to fourth-grade student, developing positive self-esteem and helping students improve their academic performance. Be a child’s tutor and friend and give them the keys to a brighter future.

    No experience is necessary.

    How can I help? . . . become a Mentor and make a difference!

    • Training and ongoing support are provided by YMCA Reads staff.
    • Student volunteers over 18 years old can earn community service hours while gaining valuable

    experience working with children in an educational setting.

    • Volunteers can enhance an interest while providing a critical service to the community.

    2 shifts available:

    • 13:30 to 15:30 CST
    • 14:30 to 16:30 CST
