Description

Do you have a kind heart, compassionate presence, and want to make a difference? Become a hospice volunteer!

Sojourn Hospice is actively seeking volunteers to become a part of our caring hospice team. Our volunteers serve patients facing a life-limiting illness and their families, offering support by:

  • Holding conversation/being a listening ear
  • Sitting in companionable silence together
  • Reading aloud to someone
  • Playing music for someone
  • Tending a garden, walking a dog, etc.
  • Giving a family caregiver a break by sitting with their loved one

Volunteer schedules are flexible and based on the volunteer's availability. We serve patients in the following counties: Santa Clara, San Mateo, Alameda, San Francisco. Volunteers are able to make visits in their preferred areas.

Our volunteers receive in-depth training and on-going support. Our training classes are offered periodically, and the next class will begin in June, 2018. To find out more about the application process and reserve a spot in this class, please contact our volunteer coordinator at mrasavanh@sojournhospice.com or 408-324-0700.

The work our volunteers provide is deeply needed and appreciated. Volunteers are an extremely valuable part of our team. Contact us to learn more about this life-changing opportunity.

*There are also opportunities for those that prefer to volunteer in our office, serving as administrative support. Please contact us for more details.
