Career development placement: Arts, Events and Culture

Ninth Wave Global are offering placements for individuals looking to develop their skills and bolster their events and culture portfolio while experiencing a new place.

These placements will be based around a cultural centre in the city of Campeche, in southern Mexico. Xaman Ek - whose Mayan etymology signifies the north star and guiding light - is a focal point for the local community and travellers passing through alike. Serving as cultural centre, expeditionary house and community work space, the House is home to a wide range of events and workshops, fostering a point of intersection for all to access and make use of diverse opinions, knowledge and practices.

The programme at Xaman Ek offers a wonderful space to develop creative and organisational  skills. From calendar planning, devising events, fundraising and promotion to practical maintenance and management of volunteers, expeditionaries and artists-in-residency, you'll gain experience of everything involved in running a thriving community hub. You’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with local community and environmental initiatives on events ranging from weekly conversation classes to business conferences.

To take part, you’ll need to be a motivated self-starter. Within this framework, you’ll have the support of a team and mentors who will be able to offer guidance, contacts, resources and ideas, but ultimately we need folk who drive things forwards!

Placements are flexible and can be adapted from 3 weeks up to 4 months. Tuition and accommodation fees will vary according to length of stay and specific requirements, but starting at $700 USD per calendar month. Please note that we are a not-for-profit organisation and will gladly support any external funding applications pursued by individuals to cover the costs of their stay.
