Part time (10-30 hrs/wk)
Short-Term (few weeks/months)
Community of Madrid
This is an ongoing volunteer opportunity with placements available throughout the year.
InterExchange matches young U.S. citizens with Spanish host families who seek English exposure for their children. As a home tutor you would be living with an Spanish family, who will provide you with a private room and all of your meals. While you will have plenty of free time to explore the region, tutors are expected to enjoy engaging with the host family as well (during meals, some weekends, etc.).
Tutoring is limited to about 15 hours per week, typically 3 hours/day on weekdays, and can occur through informal chats during activities like sports, games, crafts, etc., or may focus on more formal lessons drawing from schoolbooks the children currently use in school. Once matched with a potential family you will have the chance to discuss their English learning goals.
InterExchange will provide lesson samples and other resources to help you plan.
