Casita Copán is searching for energetic and enthusiastic individuals to join their Board of Directors. Directors will provide leadership and guidance to this growing organization.

Casita Copán is a community center for at-risk children and single working mothers in Copán Ruinas, Honduras. Our mission is to prevent child abandonment by nurturing vulnerable and orphaned children and supporting single mothers. Casita Copán provides a caring, nurturing environment designed to meet the unique physical, social, and developmental needs of each child we serve, while offering support for single moms in life-skills development, education, parenting skills, micro-lending and more. Our main goals are to keep families together by providing essential child care services for working moms and creating real homes for orphaned children based on a model of individualized, family care.

Currently, we serve 54 children and 15 single mothers through our programs. We believe that by supporting both mothers and children we can keep families together and help prevent child abandonment.

Casita Copán has a national Board of Directors with members in Pittsburgh, Portland, New York, and Denver. Board members attend monthly meetings through video conferencing and are required to engage in outreach and fundraisng activities in their areas. Board members must attend 75% of the meetings and make Casita Copan a philanthropic priority.

Currently, we are seeking Board members who live in the Pittsburgh or Portland areas.

This is a wonderful opportunity for individuals who wish to make a real impact on the lives of women and children.
