Description

If you have a few free hours Monday through Friday during the daytime, you can help save a life! Volunteer drivers are needed for the American Cancer Society's Road to Recovery program in Outagamie&Winnebago Counties and surrounding areas. Drivers donate their time and vehicle to take cancer patients to treatment and back home again. They also provide encouragement and support.

Drivers are needed throughout the year. Volunteer drivers must be between the ages of 18-84, must have a current, valid driver's license, access to a safe reliable vehicle, a good driving record, and proof of automobile insurance. At least a 6 month or longer volunteer commitment is preferred. Volunteers need to have access to a computer with internet access to complete approximately two hours of online training courses to help prepare them for the volunteer role. The American Cancer Society maintains specific standards for driver responsibility. The standards help both the patient and the driver be comfortable with the program.

For information on how to volunteer please call the American Cancer Society at 1-800-227-2345 or visit www.cancer.org/drive.
