First Aid awareness and training program in Togo
First Aid awareness and training program in Togo

The volunteers will receive a training and then will apply their skills while teaching first aid to local people. The objective of the project is to contribute to First Aid Awareness and Training of Togolese communities so that local people can acquire life saving skills and learn how to respond to emergencies.

Nowadays, a very small part of the Togolese population knows first aid. However, a victim correctly assisted before rescue arrives has an additional 10% chance of survival.

Training will be given to the volunteers by trainers of the National Federation of Civil Protection of Togo (FNPC). The training will focus on learning the first steps of first aid. After their training, the volunteers will in turn train Motorcycle Taxi drivers and other road users on different first aid modules.

The main lines of the training will be: Securing the accident site and the people involved; Assessing the condition of the victim; Requesting help; Providing first aid. The training will cover topics such as choking, bleeding, unconsciousness, cardiac arrest (rescue and defibrillation), etc.

Dates: July 6 - July 25, 2020

Location: Kpalimé. Located 120 km north of Lomé, the town of Kpalimé is the ideal place for hikers and nature lovers who want to discover beautiful mountain landscapes and tropical flora. Many natural waterfalls will allow you to cool off in their pools. Kpalimé is also home to the largest arts and crafts center in the country where a large number of artists and craftsmen (woodcarvers, potters, weavers) have settled.

With about 101,088 inhabitants, Kpalimé is a tourist town in the Plateaux region and the capital of the Kloto district. Apart from public and administrative services, you will find art shops, shopping centers, bars, restaurants, nightclubs, etc. The big market of Kpalimé comes alive on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays with a huge offer of different products: many tropical fruits, vegetables of all kind and African clothing. In short, it is a city that moves and attracts many visitors.
