AmeriCorps VISTA is a national service program in which members complete one-year capacity building projects in local communities. NYS Department of State, Division of Community Services is proud to sponsor the Empire Corps VISTA program, in which members help to reduce poverty in sixteen cities across New York State.
In the Bronx, work with Children's Aid and the Office of the Bronx Borough President (OBBP) in the ongoing planning and implementation of ESPRI (Empire State Poverty Reduction Initiative) in the Bronx. Serve as a liaison to three community based organizations selected to coordinate local collective impact initiatives, including providing technical assistance, sharing best practices, and documenting progress. Identify communications opportunities and generate content for print and online platforms, in coordination with communication/marketing and public relations staff from Children’s Aid and OBBP. Assist the Director of Collective Impact in assembling and staffing a governance committee for Bronx ESPRI, including recruiting stakeholders, developing agendas, tracking action items, etc. Participate fully on the Children’s Aid team working directly on the initiative by regularly contributing creativity, energy, feedback, and ideas.
