Description

Mentor immigrant girls in high school in Philadelphia, Newark, and New York.

Who we work with:

Our Mentoring Program matches high school girls from immigrant and first-generation American families to various mentors throughout the school year.

The mentors we select are women that are professionals who have at least 2 years of experience in their career field.

If you are interested in volunteering in other ways or in donating to our program, please visit our website for more information.

How it works:

Mentoring includes:

- 9 sessions in total; one session per week, approximately 45 minutes during the girls' lunch or extracurricular class period

- e-mentoring sessions via video conferencing, so you can be located anywhere

- Curriculum and training provided for each mentor

How we match you with your mentee:

Our mentees provide us with a list of careers they are interested and we try to match them with mentors working in similar professions.  Girls list many different careers, so if you know any other amazing career women in different fields or positions, please pass along this information!

As a secondary level of matching, we put great effort into matching mentees with mentors from similar cultures. This enhances the mentee's ability to identify with a concrete role model and learn first-hand how to navigate a multicultural experience. If we find an ideal mentor who matches on career but not on culture, we still consider the match, as mentees also benefit greatly from cross-cultural interactions.

How to get involved:

Attached is the informational brochure “Call for Mentors” that will give you some more insight into our programs. Feel free to pass this along to any colleagues you feel might also be a good fit.

You can also visit our Mentor Page for more information and to see a quick video on the mentoring process.

If you’re ready to start the mentor screening process, access the online application here!

Please apply as soon as possible so we have time for the screening and training process. We can't wait to match you with a mentee!

Thank you!
