Short-Term (few weeks/months)
9209 Dorothy Boulevard
The city of Thornton Arts and Culture Division, in collaboration with the Engineering
Services Division, are seeking volunteer artists to express themselves with semi-permanent
public art in the form of small-scale, outdoor storm drain murals. Artists are
encouraged to aesthetically transform several storm drains (at various locations) from functional infrastructure to engaging works of art that draw attention to water-quality protection and the positive
impact Thornton residents can have on their environment.
This project is open to all artists/artist groups within Adams County, Colorado. Designs should remain within the dimensions of the storm drain structure while being bold, original, and demonstrate artistic merit.
Paint specialized for sidewalks will be provided in basic colors (white, black, red, yellow, blue).
Artists can mix colors as needed. Basic brushes and containers for mixing will also be provided.
Artists may want to bring their own unique tools and brushes, but should do so at their own expense.
