Interested in cutting-edge community development and neighborhood revitalization? Passionate about supporting groundbreaking community development and affordable housing? Do you hope to be a vital member of a mission-based organization making valuable contributions to communities? If so, we have a year-long opportunity for you!

We have partnered with AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) to offer a one year opportunity for you to bring your passion and perseverance where you can have an impact. You will be working alongside community members to advance local solutions.

What you’ll do

As a Finance VISTA, you will provide the organization with a modeling tool to efficiently create projected Statement of Financial Position and Cash Flow. This project is critical to the NJCC's continuing to manage its growth while maintaining a strong financial position. Working with our Finance team, you will:

•Refine and maintain existing asset and liability model or develop a new model to facilitate efficient updating of actual information and scenario adjustments to provide summarized projected Statements of Financial Position and Cash Flow.

•Assess existing tool to determine whether to proceed with refinement or develop a new tool.

•Meet with Finance team and line of business staff to understand operations, financial transactions, financial reports and other factors that may impact projections and need to be considered in the model.

•Determine most effective way to feed data into the model on an ongoing basis so the model is easily and efficiently maintained.

•Develop required data feed tools and develop a user guide for the model.

•Analyze results of modeled scenarios to identify liquidity or leverage shortfalls.

While you will work with our Finance team, you will also play a critical role in enhancing our overall infrastructure to effectively manage and sustain our policy- and systems-building efforts by expanding our ability to conduct data-driven research. The byproducts and impact of your work as a member of this invaluable VISTA team will live well beyond your time here with NJCC. Your work will enable NJCC to significantly expand its role as one of New Jersey’s foremost thought leaders in community development.

The skills you'll need

We’re looking for people who are motivated and driven to develop their career. To be successful in this role, you’ll need to:

• Have a passion for community service and a strong customer service attitude.

• Have completed some college level coursework in Computer Science, Information Science, Database

Management, Management Information Systems or related courses.

•Have superb interpersonal communications skills and the ability to establish rapport with diverse groups easily.

•Be able to demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.

AmeriCorps VISTA provides a living allowance to cover the cost of food, housing, and other basic necessities during your service. The annual living allowance stipend for this position based in New Brunswick is $21,563, paid bi-weekly. (Federal income tax deductions are withheld from the living allowance.
