Responsibilities and Duties:

The volunteer will assist in an inventory of the Morgan’s printed books holdings. A curator and the volunteer will survey the collection by a shelf-reading process, examining each book and comparing it with the Morgan’s bibliographic records. The volunteer will help the curator to correct and supplement the records. For one or two hours a week, the volunteer will file booksellers’ invoices and descriptions of books recently acquired by the department. The volunteer must be available at least partly on Mondays to complete inventory while the museum is closed to the public.

 

Qualifications:

MLS/MLIS degree preferred.

Knowledge of filing procedures.

Experience with library cataloging systems and spreadsheets preferred.
