Thanks to our partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Oshkosh (BCGO), we are in need of volunteer tutors who are interested in tutoring children/teen BGCO members one time a week for one hour. This type of tutoring is different than tutoring adults in that tutoring high school and middle school students is all about making a connection and finding positive ways to experience the printed word. You will not need to tutor geometry or chemistry, you will simply help your learner with organization, show your learner how to use the library's resources for projects they may have, and focus on your learner's interests and help them discover more about those interests using the printed word.
Interested volunteers would need to attend our workshop "Working with Adolescents", in addition to the new Volunteer Orientation, to learn more about adolescents and how their brain works. If you would like to be a positive role model in the life of a young learner, this is the opportunity for you! Please contact Marisa Wegener, Volunteer & Service Coordinator, at (920) 236-5219 ext. 4802 or at firstname.lastname@example.org if interested.
