Blog Manager

VOFAIR's vision is to bring transparency to the international world of volunteering. We strive to provide information regarding volunteer opportunities free from unfairness and financial returns, and in which your skills are best matched with the needs of the others.

VOFAIR (short for Volunteer Fairly) is a not-for-profit organisation that supports grassroot and fair volunteer projects in South America. Via our thorough verification process, we enhance better practices in volunteer management – from recruitment to the matching of skills with the local needs. The beneficiaries of our work include the host organisations and volunteers. We emphasise that we are not an intermediary but rather a watchdog of the volunteer sector. We believe that it matters to international volunteers to know that someone has checked their volunteer projects beforehand. We aim to raise awareness of the volunteer industry and improve its practice.

Position Overview:

With our organisation growing, we are now searching for an innovative and passionate person to join our team in the role of Blog manager. This is a remote, online-based position.

This is a critical role within VOFAIR, reporting directly (and sharing blog posts) to the MD and working closely with the whole team to collect and generate regular articles for our awareness-raising blog. The blog manager`s role will be to recruit his/her team (interview and receive applications online), and manage the team with frequent online articles (once a week). Additional tasks would include contributing (in writing) to our monthly newsletter (texts related to the blog), helping the translators (for the Spanish version of the website), liaising with web developers and participating in online meet-ups with the team.

It is crucial that the candidate for this role can manage his/her time, meet the deadlines and work independently and as part of the team. You must like to manage other people and you must be responsible in delivering your tasks. Due to the online character of this role, continuous self-motivation is a must!

The Blog Manager will develop a network of contacts across the international aid and volunteering sectors and seek their expertise and delivery of articles, interviews and other forms of writing. This role will definitely make you grow in knowledge and experience with interviewing (mostly online), managing an online blog and researching for the best input!

The successful applicant will be able to work autonomously as well as being a team player. They will either have a basic understanding and interest the international volunteering market, be willing to learn, have previous content management experience, and/or an academic background in one of the following: business, marketing, journalism, communications, or public relations and related. English fluency is a must, native fluency preferred.

In return for 5-10 voluntary hours each week, you will have the opportunity to be creative, sharpen your communication skills, think strategically and be involved in the beginning of something great.

We require a commitment of at least 3 months for this role.
