Description

At Otra Cosa Network, our vision is equal opportunities in Peru for everyone to succeed and thrive.

We run five of our own projects, which are all part of the Huanchaco Education and Learning Programme (HELP). HELP is dedicated to advancing the education possibilities and resources for those living in lower-income communities in Huanchaco and the surrounding shanty towns. Alongside this, we support several partner organisations in the area, as well as in two remote locations in northern Peru.

VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR

Working as a volunteer coordinator, you'll manage most elements of volunteering within the organisation, such as helping new volunteers to settle in their projects and organising volunteer activities, and coordinate one of our five development projects. This is a great position to gain experience in managing people and entering the charity world.

As a volunteer coordinator you have an extremely important role in our organisation. Adjusting to the cultural differences and getting settled into their projects can be a challenge. To help with this adjustment it is important to create a solid volunteer community. You would be responsible for inducting new volunteers into our organisation as well as organising their activities and outings, taking volunteers to their projects, writing the volunteer newsletter, conducting intro and exit interviews, helping out in the office of Otra Cosa Network, including responding to email enquiries, some general admin tasks and helping with recruitment.

You will also have the opportunity to coordinate one of our five projects, in either women's empowerment, environmental education, youth development or English language education. You will be responsible for supervising a team of up to five volunteers, running the weekly meeting, coordinating project activities, reporting to the project manager.

Requirements and benefits

For this role, we require a fluency in Spanish and a time commitment of 6 months. The candidate must be older than 21 years old, with fluent English, excellent communications and conflict resolution skills, with a mature and positive attitude, and a good sense of humour.

This is a voluntary position, but we waive the volunteer contribution fee and we provide accomodation in our comfortable volunteer house. You will have your own room and also includes utilities and access to a shared bathroom and kitchen, garden and wifi.
