Cooperative Extension partners with communities to deliver education and technology that enrich the lives, land and economy of North Carolina. The Durham County Center is composed of the following program areas: childhood development (Welcome Baby Family Resource Center); youth development (4-H program, Kids Voting Durham); health and nutrition (family & consumer science); agriculture and horticulture, and building community capacity (Durham County ACCESS).
Provides services to Durham County residents of all ages. Programs includes classes on various topics from parenting to nutrition; clothes for children under five in Welcome Baby Family Resource Center Giving Closet; 4-H clubs and camps; Kids Voting - learning about the political process.
Will be volunteering with Welcome Baby Family Resource Center during the weekly Giving Closet.
Qualifications: Experience working with children. Shows initiative. Reliable. Attention to detail. Ability to work without a lot of supervision. Likes children and enjoys engaging them in play and reading activities. Energetic. Doesn't get frazzled by chaos. Flexible. Some Spanish helpful but not mandatory. Volunteer Job Duties: Keeps children safe and happy while in the Children's Room. Ends any dangerous or unbecoming behavior. Finds the child's parent/guardian when necessary. Cleans up the room at the end of the shift. Some Spanish helpful, but not mandatory.
Needed on second Thursday 3:30pm - 6:30pm. Friday 8:30 - 11:30pm or 1:00pm - 3:30pm. Shifts are available.
