Role: Pantry Volunteer Leader


Reports to: Pantry & Community Nutrition Manager


Location: 252 W 116th Street, NY, NY 10026


Time: 8:30am – 12:30pm AND/OR 12:30pm – 4pm


Duration: Monday, August 20, 2018 – Friday, September 7, 2018


 


Description: The Pantry Volunteer Leader will assist with both volunteer management and oversight of the pantry; including set-up, unloading of daily deliveries, proper storage of food items, food distribution and clean-up after our daily pantry services. Some heavy lifting is required. The Pantry Volunteer Leader will be responsible for facilitating the volunteer activity with the support of the Food Bank Pantry Manager and volunteers.


 


Volunteer Management:


Direct a group of 7-15 volunteers in the pantry to:


Restock pantry shelves

Assist clients through their pantry shopping according to the point card system

Manage and unload daily deliveries of food from our truck into the Community Kitchen and storage areas (Mondays and Wednesdays)

Assist and direct volunteers with clean up after each pantry shift (wiping down shelves, sweeping, mopping, storing food)




The Pantry Volunteer Leader will receive a training on the pantry and our facility from the Pantry Manager and/or Food Bank staff member prior to starting the assignment. 


 


Customer service experience and Spanish knowledge a plus
