Inspire Young Scientists - Female STEM Role Models Needed
- Volunteer Opportunity posted by Scientific Adventures for Girls
A few hours per month
Oakland, Berkeley, Emerville
Scientific Adventures for Girls holds after school STEM classes for girls in elementary school (K-5th grades). Our mission is to engage girls from a young age in STEM. As part of our program, we invite female STEM role models to a class during their 10-week session to talk about what they do, why they love STEM, answer questions and do an SAFG project with the girls. We want the girls to meet female STEM role models so they can see themselves in a STEM career some day!
WHEN: Throughout the 2018-2019 School Year| Commitment is 2 hours
WHERE: Elementary Schools in Oakland, Berkeley and Emeryville
SAFG's mission is to keep kids, especially girls and under served youth (starting at the age of 5), engaged in STEM for the long term, either as professionals in STEM fields or as contributing members of the global community with a strong background in technological skills and scientific methods.
SAFG envisions a gender equitable society, where all girls know their full potential and know they are capable of great things. They will be equipped with 21st century skills.
