Social Media Manager

Who we’re looking for: A social media manager with a passion for sharing mental health stories. We’re looking for someone who can help us create a warm and inviting community through social media where you can connect with others and talk about post-traumatic growth. This volunteer can serve from anywhere! Our focus is on engagement rather than reach. 

Someone who would be perfect for this role would have:

  • A passion for mental health 
  • Experience working with a collaborative content calendar and social media analytics
  • Knowledge of how to write for Instagram and Facebook. This includes how to share content from other users, how to use hashtags, emojis, and GIFS, how to use polls, stories, and video content.

This volunteer would be responsible for:

  • Implement a content calendar for all social media platforms
  • Creating and finding different content for all social media platforms
  • Maintaining our brand and style guidelines on social media platforms  
  • Keep up to date with relevant news, similar accounts, and engaging with our community and other brands on social channels

This volunteer would be skilled in: 

  • Using Hootsuite, Discord, Zoom, Trello and, Google Drive
  • Written communication skills
  • Working independently and setting realistic goals and deadlines
  • Empathy, patience, and the capacity to communicate in real-time with the executive director and email marketer who are both based in San Francisco

The social media manager would work closely with the executive director and help guide the public view of the organization. We're ideally looking for someone who would be able to have weekly meetings with me (I’m the executive director) while getting settled in the role and then we’d figure out how often we’d need to meet. The meetings at first would be about strategy, creating benchmarks, and anything else we’d want to discuss.

Right now the role includes all content creation, but we're very open to having a social media content designer and other people join the social media management team if that would be useful. We want to make the amount of work very feasible to do on a volunteer basis. Basically we’re looking for a social media manager that would feel comfortable communicating openly about how they want to customize the role to work for them in the long run. We want a social media manager who’s able to jump in and be an integral part of the team for the long haul.
