DESC will be serving a special Thanksgiving dinner to everyone staying at our shelters and for our residents in supportive housing throughout Seattle.
A special request has been made for pies. Home-made pies, like grandma's "secret" recipe, pumpkin, apple, banana creme...whatever is your specialty will be welcomed. And we won't say no to a cake or any baked goods! They can be baked beforehand and delivered. We'll do the rest. Any number of pies will be accepted. If time is an issue, store bought pies are welcomed too.
We have also had requests for fresh (non-frozen ) turkeys. They'll do the baking! Often, the budget for a whole housing program's holiday is less than $200. Receiving the turkey means more can be spent on the trimmings!
We also have a few opportunities to help prepare and serve a meal at various projects, though please note, you must be at least 18 years old to do so. Unfortunately, no minors.
We have locations throughout Seattle (ranging from Westlake to Capitol Hill to Rainier Ave to West Seattle to Pioneer Square) for drop-off of pies and/or places to serve so please reply by email if interested.
We very much appreciate your help in making this a special time of year for many homeless and vulnerable people.
