Description

The Multnomah County District Attorney Victim Assistance Program is currently looking for dedicated and compassionate community members to join our volunteer Sexual Assault Victim Advocate team! The role of a Sexual Assault Victim Advocate (SAVA) is to provide support and information to survivors of sexual assault during the forensic medical examination and law enforcement interview. SAVAs meet with law enforcement and the sexual assault survivor at local hospitals or medical facilities. The purpose of the hospital response is two-fold: to ensure the physical well-being of the survivor and to collect forensic evidence that may be present. Our SAVAs are a critical part of our program's ability to support and serve victims during an often traumatic and stressful time in their lives.

All potential volunteers must complete a volunteer application, attend the comprehensive MCDA 40 hour SAVA training and participate in an interview. Our next training opportunity will be coming up soon on October 30th-November 17th, 2018! Training sessions will be held at the Multnomah County Courthouse in Downtown Portland on Tuesday/Thursday evenings and all day Saturdays. Applications are due by October 19th, 2018.
