A few hours per month
Long-Term (6 months-1 year)
Watching America is a unique and wholly volunteer website founded in 2005 that translates unfiltered foreign perspective about the U.S. from all over the world. Simply put, we help readers find out what the world thinks of U.S.
We are currently seeking an Assistant Editor for Content Research to recruit and manage volunteer English content researchers, who identify the most credible and compelling commentary about the U.S. in English language news sources based in the U.K., Africa, Europe and Asia.
The Assistant Editor must have team building skills and will work remotely but in close contact with the Senior Editor. We are looking for someone who can devote at least five hours per week to the following responsibilities:
(1) Ensure that our English content researchers are meeting their commitment to locate English language commentary about the U.S. from one or more global regions and post it on the WatchingAmerica.com website;
(2) With the help of the Senior Editor, manage and develop a sustainable strategy to grow our English language research group through direct email recruiting and other outreach that will add at least 5 to 10 new researchers by the end of the year.
The Assistant Editor for Content Research, like all positions at WatchingAmerica.com, is a volunteer role, but it offers an opportunity to work with and manage a unique team of people skilled in international news, language and politics. The position also provides a chance to build one’s resume by volunteering for the only online aggregator of translated and English language foreign commentary about the United States.
If you like the idea of being part of an editorial team that brings commentary to the English-speaking world that might not otherwise be read in the United States – commentary that will be seen by policymakers and thought leaders – then please write to us.
