Description

Yavapai Regional Transit (YRT) is a 501(c)(3) corporation that was formed as a successor to a senior center transportation program in Chino Valley. In 2012, the Town decided to withdraw its financial and managerial support. In order to keep the service alive, Yavapai Regional Transit was formed. It is unique in the world of public transit, which usually operates with funding from a local government revenue source and a mixture of federal and state funding. Instead, YRT receives a significant portion of its funding from a Federal Transit Administration and Arizona Department of Transportation Rural Transportation grant which has to be matched with local resources. Any organizational growth has to be considered in the context of acquiring local resources.

By enhancing our community outreach and public presence, we will be able to develop more support in the communities we serve. Yavapai Regional Transit has a very small staff with a low level of visibility in the community. They need to develop a more robust communications and community outreach program that taps into social media and other, more widely disseminated forms of media. YRT wants to reach out to potential users of public transit and educate the agencies and organizations that serve persons who, because of age, disability, or economic condition are unable to purchase or provide transportation for themselves. This project is intended to update, enhance, and expand on existing communication tools, create templates and introduce communications on various platforms, and develop a work plan that can be updated on an annual basis to continue to grow the programs.
