Docents Needed to Interpret History
- Volunteer Opportunity posted by San Mateo County Historical Association
A few hours per month
Long-Term (6 months-1 year)
The San Mateo County Historical Association is searching for enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to help San Mateo County history come alive for the many residents, visitors and students of San Mateo County.
Interested in education and working with school children? Consider leading or assisting our school programs. We provide engaging, hands-on, educational programs for over 20,000 San Mateo County and Bay Area elementary students and their chaperones per year. Due to state-wide funding cuts in arts education in schools, our programs provide vital learning opportunities that are missing from many classrooms. Are you a people person? Then interpreting our historic sites may be right for you. Engage with visitors of all ages from around the world as you share our unique, and sometimes colorful, history.
Opportunities are available at the San Mateo County History Museum in Redwood City, the Woodside Store in Woodside and the Sanchez Adobe in Pacifica. Even those without history knowledge or who have never volunteered in the community can receive training.
Join us for our upcoming FREE Docent Orientation on Saturday, October 14th from 1 - 3 p.m. at the Woodside Store (2200 Tripp Road, Woodside).
Registration is required: 650-299-0104 x231 or firstname.lastname@example.org
