At Action for Healthy Kids (AFHK), we envision a future where every kid is healthy, active and ready to learn. We mobilize school professionals, families and communities across the U.S. to take actions that lead to healthy eating, physical activity and healthier schools where kids thrive. In 2017, AFHK celebrated its 15th year of making schools healthier places so children can develop lifelong healthy habits and be better prepared to learn.
Develop a system for pulling the latest in literature across subject areas, synthesize the most relevant articles, identify key data points and information, and note any gaps in the literature.
The following are examples of potential topics:
o school health and wellness
o school breakfast programs
o childhood obesity
o nutrition and physical activity
o connection between health and academics
Schedule: Temporary summer position; no less than 10 hours per week and no more than 40 hours per week. Preference for those that can attend weekly scheduled meetings in-person in Chicago office.
Start Date: Flexible but no later than June
Strong preference for a student or recent grad of a Masters program (ex: MPH, MPA, MS) with a strong interest in research.
The preferred candidate will have demonstrated the ability to work independently, and have strong organizational skills. The candidate would also have knowledge of conducting literature searches and reviews, particularly using Pubmed for peer reviewed and Google for grey literature.
