Part time (10-30 hrs/wk)

The volunteer will work directly with the Corporate Partnerships team and gain valuable knowledge of how fundraising is accomplished through research and communication. This volunteer will grant the opportunity to learn how to navigate and use a non-profit database, and provides the chance to attend Business & Policy programs and/or other special events. NOTE: This volunteer opportunity will be remote during Fall 2020.

Responsibilities:

The volunteer will assist with various tasks including, but not limited to:

  • Conducting research on current and prospective donor corporations;
  • Assisting in the development of Corporate Membership and Sponsorship marketing materials;
  • Assisting with distribution of complimentary gallery passes to Corporate Members;
  • Assisting with Corporate Membership thank you letters, renewals and other mailings;
  • Assisting in updating donor database;
  • Assisting at various programs (evening lectures, lunches, etc.), and other Japan Society special events (gallery openings, receptions, Contemporaries of 333 events, etc.);
  • Completing general administrative tasks as needed.


Requirements:

  • Detail-oriented/organized;
  • Motivated/self-starter;
  • Team player;
  • Basic computer skills;
  • Interest in non-profits, business, and/or Japanese culture a plus.


Time frame and details:

  • Fall, with the option to extend to Spring available;
  • Preference will be given to prospective volunteers who wish to commit to both the Fall and Spring semesters;
  • 16-20 hours (2-2.5 days) per week.


Learning/professional opportunities:

  • Gain first-hand experience in non-profit fundraising;
  • Earn academic credit (if approved by your college/university);
  • Receive recommendation letter from supervising team member (upon request after successful completion of volunteer).
