Description

The Crisis Center of Tampa Bay brings help, hope, and healing to people facing serious life challenges or trauma resulting from sexual assault or abuse, domestic violence, financial distress, substance abuse, medical emergency, suicidal thoughts, emotional or situational problems.


Volunteer Support Advocates provide exceptional customer service as an advocate to clients who experienced trauma from sexual assault or abuse.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive victim services to all survivors requesting advocacy
  • Respond to medical forensic exams when scheduled
  • Provide crisis intervention, emotional support, and referrals as needed
  • Assist in developing a safety plan
  • Coordinate with law enforcement and medical staff on behalf of clients


Requirements

  • Completed 30 hour Advocacy Core Training
  • Background check required
  • Serve a minimum of four shifts a month
  • Attend volunteer meetings/trainings
  • Must possess reliable transportation
