The Center for Hearing and Communication (CHC), which has locations in New York and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is a non-profit rehabilitation center whose mission is to provide high quality comprehensive services to empower infants, children, and adults affected by hearing loss, deafness, and listening challenges (such as Auditory Processing Disorder (APD).

CHC needs a volunteer to help in the Communication Department in our New York office. The volunteer will assist us in handling routine clerical and office support duties.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Primary responsibilities will consists of administrative and office support duties
  • Create and maintain client medical charts/File documents
  • Data entry/working with appointment scheduling database/EMR
  • Printing, Copying, Faxing and Scanning documents
  • Typing/document creation (i.e. Reports)
  • Update/create spreadsheets


  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe)
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills
  • Well organized and able to multi-task
  • Ability to enter data accurately and efficiently into computer database
  • Self-motivated, flexible and works independently with limited supervision
  • Ability to execute tasks efficiently and with a sense of urgency and attention to detail
  • Punctual and team-oriented
  • Volunteering to help without being asked
