Community Impact, Columbia University is currently recruiting volunteer teachers and tutors for our TASC (high school equivalency program).

The fall program runs February 3rd- May 7th. Teacher orientation is scheduled in late January.

Teachers may volunteer one or two days a week and teach a TASC subject area: Reading/Writing and Social Studies or Math and Science. Experience is preferred but not required! If you are new to teaching, we'll pair you with an experienced co-teacher.

Classes run Monday through Thursdays 10:30am- 1:30pm or 6:00-8:30pm and are held on the Columbia University campus.

Openings are available for Reading/Writing and Social Studies on Mondays and Wednesdays in the mornings. Openings are available for Math and Science on Tuesdays and Thursdays, both in the morning and evenings. Ideally, the volunteer would teach one subject, on both days, at the same time.

Tutors may volunteer one or more days a week for 1 hours to work one on one or in small groups to help students outside of class. Tutoring hours are 1.30pm - 2.30pm or 5 - 6 pm Monday through Thursday.

If you are interested, email  Amelia Johnson at acj2143.ci@gmail.com and indicate day, time and subject you would be interested in teaching. Please include your resume.
