WHO WE ARE:
Manos Unidas founded the first and only private, non-profit school for children and young adults with different abilities in Cusco, Peru in 2009. MU currently serves 75+ children and young adults
3-25 years of age with our mission to include our students into their families, schools and workplace.
Students, recent graduates, and professionals (OTRs or COTAs)
TAKE THE CHALLENGE:
Many opportunities for direct OT services exist within our 4 programs: Autism Education, Significant Disabilities, Inclusive Education, and Vocational Training with young adults. Work alongside our physical therapist to provide direct clinic-based services to students with significant disabilities; support participation in the school environment by coaching teachers on classroom strategies for improved performance and participation, such as with fine motor skills, sensory supports, cognitive and behavioral strategies etc. for students in our Autism Education, Significant Disabilities, or Inclusive Education programs; or work with youth in our Vocational Training program to help adolescents and young adults acquire and use job skills in our school cafe or at a job in the city. Additional opportunities are available in orphanages, rural communities, home visits, family workshops, and specialized teacher training.
2 weeks – 3 months
March – December
- Beginning Level of Spanish – moderate to advanced levels preferred
- Willingness to learn and exchange information with an open mind
- Application Fee: $150
- Coordination/Donation: $600
- Food/Housing: $180/week
