Implementing a water phyto-purification system for a farm in Auvergne, France
- Volunteer Opportunity posted by CADIP
Full time (30+ hrs/wk)
Short-Term (few weeks/months)
Volunteers will be welcomed on an educational farm in Retournac amidst a unique and preserved area, rich of natural heritage. The farm is unusual and unique place of agricultural production (vegetables, breads, cheeses), artistic creation and education. All these activities are carried out with respect to the environment and organic farming. Water is an indispensable resource for life and it needs to be preserved! Thus, the farm has set up a system of Phyto-purification to treat water. This system works with plants. In order to enhance this approach the farm needs you to arrange the place. Thus, your mission will be to realize a dry stone wall, to design and realize wooden panels that introduce the system, to decorate the place and create an educational path for visitors. The diversity of these tasks will allow you to learn different crafts (working with stone and wood) but you will also develop your creativity! You will be guided by a technical supervisor. The work takes place in the morning for up to 4 hours. Afternoon and weekends are dedicated to other activities.
You will be accommodated in the lodge belonging to the farm with all the modern facilities. The cottage was built with ecological materials with respect to the environment. The cottage offers an exceptional setting for a unique stay. Bring your sleeping bag.
The farm is located in Haute-Loire, in the town of Retournac. There are different places of interest near the farm: the amazing ruins of the Castle of Artias, the Loire Gorges (one of the most beautiful rivers in France), volcanoes mountains, etc.
