Description of volunteering opportunity
Over the last year, Sharing dreams Project has been developing a project to raise awareness on the subject of health hazards (bronchial conditions, lung cancer, foetal damage, environmental impact etc,) caused by inhaling smoke from wood-burning stoves. Many people in the Andes experience serious health conditions because of their living in areas of extreme poverty.
We offer talks on the subject to the communities impacted. We also assist with building improved wood-burning stoves that generate significantly less smoke. We need your support and participation to help promote and develop this social work within individual houses and with the communities in general.
We are an alternative non-commercial volunteering organisation, run entirely by volunteers. We intervene directly (without intermediaries), working with communities and groups. It is a collaborative endeavour involving the communities themselves, volunteers, coordinators and leaders. We work in person, using our own hands. We operate on the basis of teamwork and adopt a flat structure. For more information on our work, find us on Facebook under "sharing dreams Project", or visit our website:
