Description

Purpose of Position:

Living History volunteers will enhance the experience of Museum goers through a variety of different acts.


Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Wear costumes and tell stories.
  • Work with interpretive programs coordinator to perform acts.


Qualifications:

  • Enthusiasm to present history.
  • Interest in aviation and its history.
  • Able to speak, read, and write clearly.


Commitment Expected:

Living History volunteers will be expected to work at least twice a week for 1-2 hours or 3 hours on weekends. Volunteers are required to come half an hour before their shift to set up. A minimum of 8 hours per month is required by all volunteers.


Training:

A training course will be provided by the interpretive programs coordinator for 2-4 weeks. Training will be conducted based on The Living History Workbook.


Physical Requirements and Safety Concerns:

Living History volunteers have different physical requirements depending upon their character. Volunteers may have to do some light lifting and stand for extended periods of time.


Other:

Volunteers are required to dress according to the character they are assigned to portray. Living History volunteers will report the Interpretative Programs Coordinator.
