Description

The DOVE Program is seeking caring and dedicated individuals to work with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault as On–Call Volunteer Advocates.

The DOVE Program has believed and supported survivors of crimes since 1994.

Our advocates are 20 years old and up, and share a commitment to social justice.

In order to be certified as a New York State Rape Crisis Counselor and DOVE advocate, volunteers must complete a 40-hour training in its entirety. The training is scheduled over the course of two day weekends and two evening sessions:

January 05th & 06th - 8:30 am to 5:00 pm

January 08th & 10th - 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm

January 12th & 13th - 8:30 am to 5:00 pm

Volunteers play a key role in meeting the needs of survivors in our Emergency Department and believe that no one should have to navigate the system without an advocate by their side.

To qualify, applicants must be able to:

Respond to our hospital within 60 minutes.

Be on call 2 shifts per month.

Commit to one year of service (Jan. 2019 to Jan. 2020).

Application Deadline: 11/30/18.
