25th Annual Veterans' Holiday Celebration

We are looking for people to setup, work at our event and help clean up over a 3 day time period.                  

The 25th Annual Veterans’ Holiday Celebration will be held on December 3rd with additional setup days, December 1st and 2nd.  Once again we are recruiting over 800 volunteers from Schools, Businesses, Military Groups and Meet-ups to help us make this event extra special for our Veterans and their families. This year we will be extending a special invitation to the families of deployed and active duty servicemen and women, families of fallen soldiers, as well as Veterans from all wars and their families.

We are making plans to provide entertainment and activities as well as food appropriate for children in our expanded Kids Area.

Some of the volunteer duties include: 

-Setup of the venue including tables and chairs in food tent and entertainment area 

-Visiting Veterans in the hospital and bringing them gift bags

-Preparing gift bags for Veterans before and handing out gift bags during the event

-Decorating the venue: tents, vendor booths, outdoor areas 

-Serving or preparing food for over 4,000 Veterans and their families 

-Helping out in the Kids area with games, face painting, food

-Registering and welcoming volunteers and Veterans as they arrive

-Providing hospitality, food, and drinks to our volunteers

-Helping disabled veterans navigate through the food line and around the venue

-Security during the event

FYI For returning volunteers:  

We will be moving the event to Lot 7 between the Wadsworth Theater and the Chapel this year. More information is provided on our website www.vhcevent.org. and newsletter that you may have already received as an email if you volunteered with us before.  If you or someone you know has an interest in being more involved with VHC in the capacity of a Manager, or has volunteered with us before and has found an area where they can be a leader, we are looking for:

-Decorations Manager(s)

-Co-Manager for Gift Bag Setup 

-Truck Drivers to help with pickup of donated items the week before the event

-People to join the Veteran Outreach Team to make phone calls and attend Veterans  Day Parades to pass out flyers and invite Veterans to our event

-People who can help with Sponsorship leads and donations making phone calls     and sending emails 

-Anyone who is good at directing smaller groups of volunteers at whatever is     

  needed before, during and after the event including setup, tear down, packing up.

How To Apply



Dress code: comfortable, closed toe shoes, dress for weather in layers on setup days

comfortable festive attire or shirts and/or caps from your organization

Waivers: Required of all participants. Can be found online when you register and may be copied,

signed and brought with on day of volunteering. Under 18 must have waiver signed by

parent or guardian and should have a parent or teacher on site when volunteering.

Accommodations: Volunteer hospitality tent offers food, snacks and drinks

Parking: On set-up days near Lot 7 on VA Campus. On Event Day volunteers will be directed where

to park.

Report to Volunteer Sign in Tend when arriving on site for name badge, wrist band, assignments and

instructions. You will work in 4 hour shifts supervised by a manager in your area.
