Description

Help your community stop food waste and fight hunger by bringing excess food to homeless shelters. You will be walking with a cart full of trays of excess food, which would have been thrown out by the restaurant, to the nearest homeless shelter.

Our events at Rescuing Leftover Cuisine typically last 30 minutes (some events are longer, some are shorter). On each event, we rescue an average of 50 pounds of food, which feeds about 40 people. It only takes 30 minutes to help feed over 40 people!

A Rescuer Associate commits to leading 10 food rescue events per week. In return, you will be paid $8 per event.

As a Rescuer Associate, you will also be leading groups of volunteers during events, and actively engaging them. Rescuer Associates educate our volunteers on the issues of food waste and hunger, while leading them from the restaurant, to a nearby homeless shelter, where we drop off the food donations. Training is provided.
