Powrplnt is a nonprofit that provides free digital art workshops to Bushwick youth on interest driven digital art projects and educational programs. We advocate that technology is a right, not a privilege.
We are looking for volunteer teaching artists who can lead engaging introductory 1-2 hour free workshops for teens in creative software like Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Ableton Live, Unity 3D as well as HTML applications. We look to empower each student to express their ideas confidently while introducing them to the basics functions of these programs. Volunteers should feel comfortable working with teens, be punctual and excited to share and sharpen their skills with the future creators of the Bushwick community.
Teaching artists will have the freedom to construct curriculums based on their skills and in conversation with Powrplnt. We’re looking for people who can either dedicate 1-2 hours a week for 6 weeks or do one-off classes over the course of the summer.
Our space is equipped with seven iMacs that have necessary software for classes. Teachers can utilize our printer, scanner, projector, and sound system as necessary to lead their classes.
