Community Outreach Volunteer
- Volunteer Opportunity posted by Riverside County Department of Waste Resources
Times of day
A few hours per month
Long-Term (6 months-1 year)
You can make a difference in your community by helping Riverside County residents become better recyclers and composters. Outeach Volunteers assist with recycling and composting classes, workshops and events. Teach classes, participate in community events and visit schools, community gardens and senior centers. Outreach Volunteer opportunities are all over the county and volunteers get to choose when and where they want to volunteer.
Call 951-486-3200 for more information or come to an Outreach Volunteer Orientation and Training, scheduled the first Wednesday of every month at our Moreno Valley office (14310 Frederick St.) at 10 am. If that location or time is not convenient for you, contact us to schedule an Orientation and Training at a county office near you (email@example.com)
How To Apply
Go to the website and read the Position Description. Then you can find a link to a Volunteer Application. Once you fill out the application, you can attend the Volunteer Orientation and Training.
If you are undecided about applying, you can attend the Volunteer Orientation and Training before you fill out the application in order to get more information.
After applying and completing the training, outreach volunteers will need to pass a criminal background check. This is provided at no cost to the outreach volunteer.
Once an outreach volunteer has filled out the application, completed training (2 hours) and passed the background check, they can begin to sign up to volunteer at various events. Events are located throughout the county at various times, however the great majority of events are on Saturday mornings or in the evening on a weekday.
