Join HandsOn Bay Area as we take part in a series of volunteer projects that highlight how different neighborhoods and organizations throughout Oakland are providing assistance to the city's youth in order to set them up for healthy, successful futures.


Series of Events


Volunteering at the Girls Basketball Kickoff with PlayWorks -- Saturday, October 6, 2018 from 8am-12pm

  • PlayWorks helps kids to stay active and build valuable social and emotional skills through play.

Volunteering at the Junior Center of Art and Science -- Saturday, October 13, 208 from 1-3pm

Gardening at GROW Farms with Beyond Emancipation -- Saturday, October 20, 2018 from 9am-12pm

  • Beyond Emancipation offers a range of services to support current and former foster youth in their transition to living as independent adults. GROW Oakland Farm offers student internships for youth to earn income by growing and selling exceptional flowers to local markets.

Creating Story Blocks with Tandem -- Tuesday, October 23, 2018 from 6-8pm

  • Tandem partners with families, educators, and communities to surround young children with interactive learning opportunities that build early language and literacy skills, strengthen social and emotional skills, and foster a lifelong love of learning.
