Description: Audubon Naturalist Society (ANS) seeks an organized and self-motivated volunteer to help with administration of our volunteer programs, including Master Naturalists. This is an outstanding opportunity for an individual interested in learning more about volunteer management and nonprofit administration, as well as natural history. The position offers practical, hands-on experience and the opportunity to gain new skills. The Volunteer Program Assistant will work 15-20 hours per week on a flexible schedule. ANS volunteer positions are accepted on an ongoing basis and typically last four to six months. Position reports to the Manager of Volunteer Programs.

 

Responsibilities:

·        Assist with maintenance of information in ANS volunteer database, including creating assignment schedules, posting volunteer hours and scheduling volunteers for assignments.

·        Communicate with volunteers to recruit for open slots in assignment schedules.

·        Respond to new inquiries about ANS volunteer programs

·        Enter data from volunteer-run habitat surveys

·        Assist with planning volunteer appreciation events

·        Assist with supervising volunteer groups such as schools and scouts

 

 

Qualifications:

·        Competence in Microsoft Office Suite, ability to learn simple database system

·        Ability to communicate in a professional manner with ANS volunteers and clients 

·        Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

·        Enthusiasm for the mission of Audubon Naturalist Society
