Show Me Integrity Fellowship Program

Show Me Integrity, Missouri’s cross-partisan political reform organization, is seeking Fellows to organize Missourians to support our mission of more ethical, effective government of, by, and for the people. Our Fall Fellows will focus primarily on two initiatives: passing Proposition D for Democracy, an election reform initiative, on the November ballot in St. Louis City and supporting thousands of Missourians in voting safely this fall utilizing our MOVote.org platform.

Available Roles

All of our Fellows will commit to a subspecialty within our fellowship program. There are six subspecialities available. Please review thoroughly so that you can indicate your interest in our application.

  • Marketing/Communications. Are you a superb writer? A social media whiz? Do you have any experience with graphic design or video editing? Our communications fellowship might be for you! We need creative Fellows who can help manage centralized inboxes, write newsletters, and create content for our website, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
  • Community Organizing/Outreach. Are you a people person? Do you thrive when building relationships? Do you like to reach out to new people via email, phone and text message? Are you great at recruiting people to join a cause? We need outgoing Fellows who can help spread the word far and wide about SMI, MoVote.org, and Prop D.
  • Event Planning. Do you love bringing people together for a great cause? We have webinars galore to host this fall to raise awareness about our work across the state. Are you great with Zoom? Are you familiar with an event planning checklist? We need detail-oriented Fellows to plan successful events, recruiting speakers, coming up with great promotion plans, and ensuring goals are met.
  • Fundraising. Do you love research and writing? Are you more of a “behind-the-scenes” person? We need a great fundraising Fellow to research grant opportunities and donors around the country who might be interested in supporting our work.
  • Data & Logistics. Do you thrive in the land of data? Do spreadsheets make your heart sing? Do you love pulling metrics and showing quantitative success? Our logistics fellowship might be for you! Our Prop D team needs support tracking volunteers, managing volunteer assignments, and distributing materials such as yard signs, door hangers, postcards, and swag. St. Louis candidates who are willing to engage in some socially-distanced, in-person work preferred.
  • Volunteer Coordination. Are you highly organized and highly enthusiastic? We need an ambitious Fellow to recruit and coordinate volunteers for our Prop D campaign. This Fellow will support text teams, organize lit drop days, and cheer on our postcard writers across St. Louis. You’ll keep our volunteers happy, motivated and feeling supremely appreciated! St. Louis candidates who are willing to engage in some socially-distanced in-person work preferred.

Qualifications

Show Me Integrity Fellows are passionate, committed, and eager to defend for our democracy. Our Fellows are curious and eager to learn. They seek out answers by learning from past efforts and initiatives and by suggesting new, fresh ideas. They are self-starters who are able to pick up projects and run with them. They are team players who build relationships with their peers (even virtually) and work together to create superior products. They enjoy working at a fast pace with rapidly changing priorities. They are excellent written and verbal communicators. They are detail-oriented and well organized.

Many of our Fellows are college students, but student status is not required for our fellowship program. A high school degree is preferred, but not required. Retirees or mid-career professionals between positions are encouraged to apply if seeking a passion project. Missouri residency, past or present, is preferred, but not required.

Time Commitment

Ideally, our Fellows will be with us at least for the full Fall semester: September 8-December 18. However, applicants may request a shorter time window in their application. Fellows will be asked to commit a minimum of 10 hours/week, but we encourage more, and fellows may commit up to 40 hours/week. A regular weekly schedule is ideal. Non-traditional hours are welcomed.

Benefits

Our staff members, Benjamin Singer and Mallory Rusch, will invest in you and your development as a professional and an activist. Our Board of Directors will work alongside you for change. You will have the opportunity to participate in bi-weekly training calls with leading reformers--elected officials, business leaders, and nonprofit leaders--across the state and across the political spectrum. College credit is available if desired. This is an unpaid, volunteer position.
