Suncokret Center for Community Development is looking for volunteers to conduct activities with children and youth. Volunteers are asked to supervise and organize fun and creative activities (sports, arts and crafts, drama, music, dance theater etc) for children and youth and to take part in the centers ecological and educational activities. At the center we publish our own local magazine, make documentary films, arts and crafts, hold educational classes, courses, workshops and organize cultural activities and volunteers are welcome to help with these activities as well. All skills are welcome!
Background Info- Suncokret-Center for Community Development in Vrginmost, is a Croatian non-governmental,non-profit organization founded as a response to the psychosocial needs of community in the after war period. It aims to address negative psychological, social and cultural consequences of the social upheavals in the region, to reduce national/ethnic tensions, to improve the quality of life for all, but especially for deprived members of the society, to promote community rebuilding, reconciliation and revitalization, and support development of a sustainable and tolerant civic society. Suncokret implements programs and initiatives in this postwar area, primarily for refugees and returnees, youth and children, but also for adults. Suncokret grounds its work with individuals, families, groups and communities on the principles of active participation and empowerment, supporting positive initiatives, initiating co-operation, mutual respect and appreciation of differences to achieve reconciliation and revitalization within the community. Suncokret Center for Community Development, is committed to the implementation of democracy building, citizen participation and empowerment, community development, voluntarism and altruism, shared responsibility, equal opportunities and involvement for all regardless of gender, religious or national differences.
