Experienced Sewers Needed to Make Memory Bears for Our "Bear Hugs" Program
- Volunteer Opportunity posted by Interim Healthcare: Gift of Hospice
A few hours per week
Long-Term (6 months-1 year)
We all have that favorite shirt, dress, pair of pants or article of clothing that brings comfort and familiarity when we wear it.
For the loved ones of our hospice patients having a familiar tangible item to hold, smell, touch etc as they grieve can make all the difference which is why we created the "Bear Hugs" Memory Bear program. Through this program volunteers who are experienced sewers turn the clothing from our patients into keepsake memory bears. We provide the bear pattern, stuffing and clothing items...volunteers provide the sewing and compassion! Volunteers make the bears in the comfort of their own homes and drop them off to the office when they are completed.
Gift of Hospice provides services to our patients wherever they call home, whether it be a private residence or a skilled nursing facility, throughout all of San Diego County. Our mission is to give patient and family empowered care, preserving dignity and providing comfort.
